How to Auto-Import Your Products with AI

Pull up to 10 products from any brand site in one click. AI handles names, descriptions, pricing, categories, and images automatically.

Browse DNA

Auto-Import is the fastest way to seed a ProductDNA catalog. Paste a product page URL, drop in a CSV, or upload a sitemap, and MorningAI extracts the products, pulls in the images, and builds clean ProductDNA entries you can use right away in Studio, ads, and social.

What Auto-Import Does

Behind the scenes, Auto-Import:

  • Fetches the page or feed you point it at.
  • Detects products and extracts names, descriptions, prices, attributes, and primary images.
  • Falls back to AI-generated placeholders when an image is missing.
  • Creates draft ProductDNA entries you can review before saving.

You stay in control. Nothing is committed until you click Save.

Step-by-Step

  1. Open ProductDNA. Sidebar → DNAProductDNA.
  2. Click + Add Products. Choose Auto-Import with AI.
  3. Pick a source:
  • Product page URL — single product or collection page.
  • Sitemap URL — bulk-import every product page in a sitemap.
  • CSV / product feed — drop a file with your existing catalog.
  1. Click Import. A preview appears showing every product MorningAI detected.
  2. Review and edit. For each product, check the name, description, price, attributes, and image. Override anything that needs it.
  3. Save. Products land in your ProductDNA catalog and are immediately available in Studio.

Source-Specific Tips

Product page URL. Works on most modern e-commerce stacks (Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, custom). Paste the live URL — not the cart or checkout URL.

Sitemap URL. Most stores expose /sitemap.xml or /sitemap_products_1.xml. Paste it and let Auto-Import enumerate. Large sitemaps (1000+ products) import in batches with a progress indicator.

CSV. Use the downloadable template for cleanest mapping. The template includes columns for name, description, price, image URL, and a custom_attributes JSON column.

When Auto-Import Cannot Find an Image

If a product has no detectable image, Auto-Import generates a labeled AI placeholder so the entry is never blank. The placeholder is visibly tagged so you remember to swap it later. Drop a real product photo onto the card any time to replace.

Pro Tips

Test with one URL first. Before running a full sitemap, paste one product URL to confirm the extraction quality matches your expectations.

Re-run on updates. When you update a product page on your store, you can re-import that URL. Auto-Import creates a draft entry rather than overwriting your saved edits, so you can compare before merging.

Bulk-tag after import. After a large import, switch ProductDNA to Table view and use multi-select to apply tags or category attributes in bulk.

Watch for variant collapse. Some stores list every size and color as a separate URL. Decide before you import whether you want one entry per variant or one entry per product family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Auto-Import overwrite existing products? No. It creates a separate draft when a product with the same identifier exists. You decide whether to replace.

How long does a 500-product import take? Roughly 5–15 minutes depending on source. You can leave the page; the import continues in the background.

Does Auto-Import work on password-protected stores? Currently no. Use a CSV export from your admin instead.

What about Shopify or WooCommerce direct sync? Direct sync is the next release — see Connect Your Shopify Store and Connect Your WooCommerce Store.
