You can connect Google Drive to MorningAI in under a minute: open Customize → Connectors (or the "+" menu in chat), click Connect on Google Drive, and approve on Google's consent screen. Access is read-only: MorningAI reads and summarizes your files but never edits, deletes, moves, or shares anything.

Why Connect Google Drive to MorningAI

Your Drive holds campaign briefs, brand guidelines, budget spreadsheets, and strategy decks. The problem is turning that pile of files into answers: finding last quarter's plan, pulling numbers from a Sheet, or remembering what the brand voice doc actually says.

When you connect Google Drive, the AI assistant searches your files in plain English, reads Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs, and images, and uses what it finds as context for marketing work. Ask AI to read your Google Docs, summarize a strategy deck, or turn a campaign brief into ad copy. This is a personal connector: each teammate connects their own Drive, and the assistant sees only what that person's Google account can access.

How to Connect Google Drive (Step by Step)

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors (or the "+" menu in chat) and click Connect on Google Drive.
  2. Approve on Google's consent screen.
  3. Done. Ask the assistant about your files.

No admin setup required. Each person connects their own Google account through OAuth, and MorningAI never sees your password.

What the Connection Unlocks

With Drive connected, the AI assistant can work with your real files:

  • Search Drive in plain English ("the Q4 campaign brief", "last year's budget sheet"), including files in shared drives.
  • Read Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides as structured content: Docs as text, Sheets as data, Slides as slide-by-slide content.
  • Read PDFs and images stored in Drive, including scanned documents and photos.
  • Summarize and reuse file content as context for briefs, copy, and strategy work in the same chat.

Try prompts like these:

  • "Find the Q4 campaign brief and summarize the key objectives."
  • "Read the brand guidelines doc and rewrite this ad copy to match."
  • "Pull the totals from the marketing budget sheet and flag anything over plan."

The assistant reads your files and works with their content in chat. It does not create or edit files in your Drive.

Your Data, Your Control

Access is read-only, and your existing Google permissions are the boundary: the assistant sees exactly what your account sees, nothing more. Files shared with you appear; files you can't open don't.

You approve the connection on Google's own consent screen, and MorningAI never sees your Google password. Drive is a personal connector, so teammates cannot browse your files through it.

When you disconnect Google Drive from MorningAI, we delete the stored credentials. You can also revoke MorningAI's access anytime at myaccount.google.com. For more detail on how we handle data across connectors, see our security page.

Real-World Use Cases

Brief to campaign in one chat: Point the assistant at a campaign brief in Drive and ask it to draft the launch email, three ad variants, and a social post, all grounded in the brief's actual goals and audience.

On-brand copy without re-reading the guidelines: Ask the assistant to check draft copy against the brand voice doc in your Drive and adjust tone, terms, and phrasing to match.

Numbers from Sheets without exporting: Ask for last quarter's spend by channel from the budget spreadsheet and get the figures summarized in chat, ready to paste into a report.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can MorningAI edit or delete my Drive files?

No. Access is read-only. The assistant reads and summarizes files but never edits, deletes, moves, or shares anything in your Drive.

Which files can the assistant see?

Exactly what your Google account can access, including shared drives. Your existing Drive permissions are the boundary. Files you can't open in Drive are invisible to the assistant too.

Can it read spreadsheets and presentations, or just Docs?

It reads Google Docs as text, Sheets as structured data, Slides slide by slide, plus PDFs and images stored in your Drive.
